It was great seeing all the big fences and watching the pro's in action, it made Chatsworth look a lot easier I must admit!! I just want to thank Sam & her dad Chris for such a great weekend we loved every minute.
It was so nice to have my sponsors Blue Chip come to support us and to capture some footage of us in action. Annie was so well behaved after a hectic start! A tractor drove past her whilst doing studs with a bowser on the back spraying water on the lane, Annie saw red pulled off breaking her head collar and dragging mum in the process whilst she tried to bolt across the field, mum had to let her go in the end, she got off lightly with a pulled side and arm because she very nearly got trampled. Annie kicked out in the process of running off and put a lovely big hole in the side of the lorry also nearly catching the dog. We tried to compose ourselves as was due on soon!
The dressage I must admit was a little disappointing, we had stepped it up a level at home and maybe in hind sight I should of took the pressure of her slightly for the test but that's how it goes! The marks were low when the tension came in, especially in the walk where we didn't manage to show any! I soon put that behind me as I know Chatsworth isn't usually a dressage test (I say that but this year a pro finished on 22.5 in my section!)
The show jumping was imposing and was certainly causing a few problems with less than half the section jumping a clear round. It always feels the most nerve wracking phase for me, especially as so many family and friends had come to watch. The warm up went brill so I felt slightly less sick heading for number 1! We both kept our cool blocking out the busy atmosphere of 1.45pm to jump a CLEAR ROUND!!! I was so delighted, she didn't breath on a thing and not one bad stride we met everything spot on. It definitely felt like one of my best rounds yet.
The following weekend we have the Festival of the Horse Championships at Aston Le Walls which is another new venue for us. I am really grateful to East Midlands Dressage group who have sorted stabling for us last minute due to very early times and a long wait between horses. So a very exciting few weeks coming up.
Thanks to Blue Chip feed, David Shard & Rich Neale for the pictures
