Today I took Candy and Puzzle to Hope Valley Riding Club's Dressage competition held at Stubley Hollow Farm, entering them both into the N27 and N28. I thought Candy would struggle a bit with the more advanced movements as she is really only at Prelim level but would be good practice for the future!
Puzzle was first to go warming up very fresh springing around like a coil! I was trying to loosen her up and relax her best I could before the test, but today she decided she loved Candy, whinnying and looking around for her instead of concentrating and listening to me! She didn't do a bad test considering the warm up, just a little tense and rushed the mediums ending up with 63.6% putting her in 4th place.
Back to Puzzle who was very ashamed of herself for getting beaten by a 4 year old! She came out a different horse, very relaxed and moving much better. (I think she wanted to beat Candy this time!). Puzzle did a great test coping well with the counter canters coming a well deserved 1st with 69.2%. Even though she did keep shying in the same corner every time because the geese were flapping!
Today was such great training for both of them and I couldn't of asked for a better result. You can watch them in action on the Youtube Video's page.
