Brand went really well, It was the first time my ankle felt really strong. Annie scored a 33 dressage double clear and picked up 8th place.. woohoo no more 9th ribbons! We then headed to our local Speetley Equestrian centre. The dressage is never good here, you know when you just have venues where your horse does not relax or preform well.. well that is here! A score of 38.5, 4 faults and clear XC placed us 14th. Skipton was right around the corner and one of my favourite events of the year. It did not disapoint this time either, a 29.8 dressage double clear with 1.2 time gained us 3rd place- plus a qualification to Frickley Yorkshire Challenge & another Regional yipppeee!
Ending BE90's on a high and feeling on good form we made the transition back to BE100. It was at Northallerton another venue I love the jumping, but somewhat dislike the dressage warm up. It never goes well! A 33 dressage double clear left us in our most popular position so far this year.. yep you guessed it 9th!! I was delighted having stepped back up a level rather tentatively.
2 weeks past, and then we were back out at another local event Frickley Park. One I really enjoy with just the right amount of testing jumps. I was so happy to have both horses competing there. Goldie was up first and did not disappoint. She did a really sweet test for 31 which left her up there in the top 10. She thoroughly enjoyed the jumping and posted a super double clear inside the time for 2nd place! Only 0.6 behind the winner- what a shame just missing out on the BE80 championships later this year.
Annie was feeling just as confident, not to let her sister beat her score! She scored a close 31.5 dressage left us 10th or there about's. The jumping was unfortunate this time, we had one rail after a slight breathe on it... one of those things! This dropped us to 17th place!!! I was actually contemplating whether to go XC or not, after wise words from my trainer Sarah Healy, we decided to go for it, as it was a really testing BE100 and Annie needed the run. I must admit I was crapping myself at the corner 4 from home. My worst fence.. not only bogey green in colour but a left handed corner which looked skinnier than my belly!
I trusted my girl and she sailed me through the flags.. woohooo a clear round with 2.4 time shot us back up the leader board to finish in 5th spot! Can you believe! So another regional for next season added to our belt. BE really is that exciting- you never know where you might finish despite your score!
This weekend I am back out for my first of four regional finals at the lovely Skipton. Wish us luck! I've only spent three seasons trying!! The following week I have booked a 3 day camp with Mother Harrold at Speetley for some fun training, before Mum tackles her first BE80 wobbleberry with Goldie... eeeek!
