As you may already know Gatcombe was cut short because of this horrible fluke of a accident, where a bike collected drive and came from behind him knocking Ashley from this bike breaking 2 bones in his back whilst dislodging and twisting his spinal cord. He was extremely lucky and 'It was a miracle" in the surgeons own words for him to have feeling in his legs but they advised to operated as soon as possible. The operation took 6 hours with an extra 4 hours in recovery, it was one of the worst days of my life waiting for him to come back to ward. The surgeon was pleased with the how the operation had gone and everything was back to its rightful place. He was going to be my new bionic man the surgeon joked!
Tomorrow I head to Moreton Morrell with both the girls competing at Novice for the first time together woohooo (only have to remember 1 dressage test and the same course!) It will be Lady's first Novice so I am really looking forward to this and trying to focus as much as possible.
Its sad to think this could be my last event of the season but what a 2013 season it has been. I have ticked so many boxes and personal goals I really must look back and review it when I get chance. I have met some incredible new friends, promoted and worked with some amazing sponsors for a further year and have some unbelievable people behind me who I really can't thank enough.
Im sure 2014 will be even more exciting and for filling, but for now I want to concentrate on helping Ashley get back to full fitness again as the next few weeks will be extremely tough for him.
