In some respects its been a busy month and in others, mainly on the horse front its been quiet! Well kind of!

After Skipton & Eland both the girls headed to Malpas, an event I haven't been to before. Lady was in the BE100 and Candy the Novice. They both performed average tests, but in nearly 30 degree heat and a tweed jacket it wasn't surprising! Trying not to make the other one look bad they both scored a 37.5 can you believe!

Onto show jumping which was a nice course but caused the occasional fault with undulating ground. Both Lady and Candy coped well and came out with a clear round. I went on to walk the cross country, even with a map I was lost and confused! After asking numerous walkers and fences judges I finally got to the finish in a panic, running late and a size smaller then when I set off due to the heat! OK the last a slight exaggeration but that's how hot it was!

I was a little optimistic about the track and worried how it might ride. Lady was up first and showed me what a honest bold horse she really is, There was a very nasty fence 3 which had a fence on a angle one stride through a fence which the horse only saw at the last minute and with it being angled gave the horses an easy route out of jumping it. The water fence again needed bold riding with a log in the water then a big jump out over a step. Another few big hedges in-between and a rather large in your face looking trekhaner took you to half way round the course. A long gallop down to a very dingy wood with a A and B element which many horses would look at with the sudden change of light. The route back home was more relaxing a steady drag uphill to a ABC log ditch log complex followed by another AB angled element. The course rode considerably well to how it walked and I was chuffed to pieces with Lady's second double clear at her second BE100 and how she had tackled the course confidently throughout, answering all the questions. A 9th frilly later it was Candy's turn to motor round the cross country.

This course really appealed to me for Candy after walking it mainly because it was a more traditional style course. It need riding fast and confidently. They were a couple of fences I was slightly concerned about. Candy hasn't jumped many steps up to fences and the ones she has done didn't go very well! Well this course would either make or break this little concern I had and thankfully it went the right way. I rode them much stronger and gave her no choice but to jump them! Bang on the optimum time we returned with another double clear at Novice level. This lifted us to 4th place and I am now left ponding where and what to do next! I have a horse that is feeling great and confident with us both comfortable at this level . I think it might be another go at 1 star very soon!

Coming up is Pony Club Area 6 Show jumping this weekend which our branch the Barlow are running this year. Lady is then at Breckenborough doing the BE100. The week after its Pony Club Area Eventing with Candy which I am really looking forward to.

I have been on Raveira Pro now for a few months. It is a new sterilised range of bedding brought to you by Caviera. I found it superb as I am very particular and demand the best for both my event horses.

I require a cost effective dust free bedding that has no spores, mould or allergies present. Unbelievably I have found all this in one product.

I also found it reduced my muck heap and was a pleasure to muck out day-to-day or even using it as a deep litter bed when I was short of time. My two horses were very happy on their new soft warm and comfy bedding. This product really does speak for itself and stays looking fresh and clean for longer then most other beddings out there on the market. More customer reviews below.

"Its amazing! Lovely big 'flakey' stuff which spreads nicely! The price is very good also! I highly recommend you."- Chelsea Arnold

"Just thought I'd send a post to say WOW. Your Cavianthus bedding is AMAZING. We have used it for just over a week, for our competition mare who is having breathing issues, already she is showing improvements thanks to your product. In addition, its so easy to use. It takes seconds to muck her out (poo pick), but saturday we did a full muckout, I expected to have to put more bedding down as she is a "dirty mare", but no!! I got out half a barrow of wet out, the rest was all as good as new, just fluffed it up and put back down. Love it Love it Love it..... And this mares stable is usually so "stinky", but its like a new stable everyday, NO smells or odours at all... I really can not vouch for this product enough - thank you."- Nick Knowles

"We are very pleased with the miscanthus, best thing we have ever used and it doesn't affect my chest."-Karen O Connor.

What a Lady...

As I write this I cannot tell you how excited I am to get Lady back out again for her next BE100. The feeling she gave me round the show jumping and cross country was so similar to my previous one star horse Pokeys Puzzle. She was an absolute dream and I even managed to take in the scenery for once!!

Dressage started rather early 8.30 and we were in. She did such a accurate test for a 33.5 and tried her hardest to keep full concentration, even though the show jumping looked much more appealing to her over the hedge!

Half an hour after it was time to show jump, the course wasn't particularity causing any problems today and rode well. People were just having the odd 4 faults if that. Lady warmed up a little behind the leg so I had to really get after her in the show jump ring. She soon switched on over fence 1 to jump a lovely clear round. Her 7th one in a row!! I walked the XC after show jumping. The course was great, having every type of fence you could think. There were lots of drop fences and steps but the hills were the thing that stuck in my head with 3 long drags up hill I knew it would take a lot out of her.

PictureHuge thanks to Rich Neale for the Images
She set out of the start box like she had done this for years! We were on the pace and Lady was jumping very confidently. We got to the water, her first jump in and a big one at that! The triple skinny brush proved no problems as we then headed to the bridge, she just popped off like a pro. The last hill did take a bit out of her so I let off the pace to let her have a breather over the last 2 fences. We finished with 2.4 time penalties which equates to 6 seconds knowing if I had kept on the gas we would of been spot on.

I was so happy going through the flags completing her first BE100 double clear. We finished in 12th place and without the time penalties we would of been 6th, this was encouraging and I can't wait to get her back out again at Malpas.
