Well I can't believe I am actually writing this. I am soooo delighted to be joining the Hiho Brand Ambassador Team, wow what an opportunity. The brand Hiho I have always been a huge fan off since being a little girl, going along to horse shows with my mum. I definitely have my mum to thank for having a eye for sparkly beautiful things and she often took me into the Hiho tradestands at the events and we would be welcomed by the most fantastic display of jewellery. Every time she would have to treat herself and has the most iconic pieces over the years with horsebit bracelets, horseshoe necklaces, or whatever took her fancy each time. She would ask me what I would like for my birthday, for Xmas, and I would always be treated with something amazing. We recently purchased the stunning exclusive cherry roller snaffle necklace which we often fight over! Its the most beautiful piece to make any outfit look 100 times more classy, it always attracts compliments too.
Now for me jewellery is a statement, I love to wear it every single day. I like things that are practical and different. For me the Cherry Roller pieces are my favourite. To welcome a new piece to my collection in the Cherry roller bangle I am seriously in love with. Its so robust but elegant in all the right places. Being able to design your own is such a bonus, I love anything matchymatchy, and this right up my street! You can choose from a range of finishes. Sterling Silver, 18ct Rose Gold, or gold plate. Then there is some beautiful extras to choose from in the CZ starlight roller beads.
Mine pictured below matches my lucky cross country colours perfectly, and I will be wearing it every single day. I decided to go for sterling silver with royal blue and silver CZ in the middle. Watch this space for some exciting future plans!
If you feel like me and have tried EVERYTHING over the years to find a suitable calmer for your horse, to help tame them whether that be to handle, to hack, to compete, to travel etc the list goes on. I may have found the perfect solution for you. Now before I have always looked what is in the magical recipe to help calm my horse. There are natural remedies, magnesium remedies and even a boost of vitamins. Well this calmer I have just tried has hit the nail on the head..
For those of you who know my horse, you will know she is sensitive, sharp, spooky, tense and has a tendency to rear!! Not in a nasty way at all, she has never (touch wood) purposely tried to get me off, she has simply reacted to a situation she thought was terrifying like most horses would!!!! Now thinking about it this calmer has really got it sussed. The problem with horses is that there adrenaline pumps round and causes them to react. Especially in competition horses they get easily stressed and not able to concentrate.
"Stress, nervousness, panic, lack of concentration, are descriptions for a very complex problem. There is still no universal effective way of fully calming horses without using sedation (not allowed during competition!) while at the same time increasing their concentration to the maximum" - Cavalor
By obtaining more insight in the complexity of the problem, Cavalor has managed to develop Cavalor Sozen. This is the first equine supplement that works on the Adrenaline - Cortisol balance. (aha! I wish I knew it was nothing more than this year ago!!) why Cavalor found out that stress is caused by long periods of tension. Stress will dis balance the hormonal system, by producing too much Adrenaline and too little Cortisol. The more the adrenaline - cortisol balance is disturbed, the greater the impact of a tension moment will be.
So what difference have I noticed in Annie? Well in just 4 days (yes 4 days!!!))) she is much more settled and she hacked ALONE this weekend. Now we normally get rearing and spinning and the smallest of things in the distance, however this time she was foot perfect. She felt like a well behaved Pony Club horse! She was a saint on the main road even where I would put money on her stopping and rearing at the same place she does every single hack! But no she was good as gold! We usually turn her out in a chifney and today when I let go and closed my eyes, she just waddled off chilled as anything!
Coming back from a broken ankle I was not looking forward to sitting a rear and so far so good! I took her up to the menage for a school and she went beautifully. I decided to enter into a dressage competition, and after 6 week break I must be mad we took her best friend Goldie too who did the same test half an hour before, We left her in the lorry alone while Goldie did her showpiece and she only did the odd winney (omg the horsebox is normally rocking!!) When it was my time to get on she was so well behaved and settled into the warm up the best she ever has. Even scoring a 69.25% with Goldie as a distraction (or not anymore!!!)
Anyway I could go on, but I will tell you this last memorable thing, skinny fences...! I always get worked up about them and last year I couldn't even get her to walk over it without been anxious and scared!!! I could feel her body so tense. On Sunday even with a wonky rider, she stepped over the narrowest of poles in walk with no fuss and even a slightly wonky rider!!! Having not seen a pole in over 6 weeks I thought am I pushing my luck here trying this in canter? No siri!!!! Bloody marvelous! I even ended up popping a block in and jumping them as a double wooohooo!!! Check out the full blog here on the straightness exercise we did!
So if you are seriously asking yourself what do I try now... what are you waiting for this product I would recommended 100 times over, and before I go you don't even need to feed it 24/7 (WHAT?!?!?!) I here you saying
Indication for useStart: 10 days 30g/1.0 oz day (4 scoops). Maintenance: 15g/0.5 oz day (2 scoops). Before competition: Start 3 days before competition and adjust as needed.
For more info please see www.cavalor.com/sa-en/products/details/88/cavalor-sozen
I also was going to try the 'Take it Easy' however I haven't needed too!
This can be fed again as and when you need it
Take it Easy- Indication for useDepending on the level of stress from 20 – 60 cc 24 hours before the stress situation. Optimum result: 20 cc the evening before, 20 cc in the morning and 20 cc 1 hour before the stressful situation. Maximum 3 tubes per day.
Sozen- Now for the feeding part!
Position and safety of the product
Cavalor Sozen is a well-balanced herbal mixture of Avena Sativa, Betula, Glycyrrhiza glabra, Allium sativa . It will reduce the impact on tension on the horse, which will create less stress into the horse
Dosage and application of the products
Cavalor Sozen: The first time you use Cavalor SeZen you have to give a Starting Boost of minimal 10 days 30 g per day (four scoops). This is needed to rebalance the Adrenaline - Cortisol balance. REMARK; sometimes after 4 - 5 days the horse might even get a little more tensed, but this is because the Cavalor SoZen start to work on the balance. After the Startup boost you can use Cavalor SoZen 2 days, 15 gr / day (two scoops) before the day on which the horse should be calm. Maximum dosage: 60 gram per day.
Most horses react well to Cavalor SoZen. If the horse has not calmed down sufficiently with the use of the individual products, it is advisable to combine Cavalor SoZen with Cavalor Takit Easy, which is rich in tryptophan, that works more on the Methionine/ Serotonin balance and is very complementary to Cavalor SoZen.
