My name is Becci Leigh Harrold. I am a 21 year old amateur event rider based in Derbyshire and have competed up to CCI*. I am lucky enough to have some fantastic sponsors, write a monthly column for Equestrian Life and I am on the Tried & Tested panel for the International Eventing Magazine.
I currently own 2 event horses, Candy Blue a talented 6 year old rarely out if the top 6 currently at Novice level & My Harlequin Lady, a 4yo currently competing in age classes at BE90 level, hopefully with the ability to take me all the way up the levels. I decided to sell my current 1* horse Pokeys Puzzle to fund my eventing & the purchase of Lady. I do not currently have the funds to go out and buy a top event horse so finding a top 4yo with the potential to go far was my next option. I currently work at a security business in Sheffield to fund my eventing career. Unlike many other eventers I do not come from a horsey background and without any training facilities on site I have to travel elsewhere to keep the correct fitness levels making my ambitions harder to achieve, but with my sponsors and supporters I know I will get there. My journey continues and is set to be a very interesting one which you can follow and relate to with my self produced horses.
I want to keep on proving & encouraging other amateurs they can compete against professional riders with no facilities or unlimited budget and still succeed. With thanks to the Equestrian Social Media Awards and the 3rd place I was awarded means I am one step further to for filling that initial aim.
