Today Puzzle & I went to Willoughby Lodge Farm to train with non other than Yogi himself! I was very excited to meet him and see what he could do to help us both on our way to 1 star. The place itself was fantastic the arena had such a wide range of fences all plastic jump for joy ranging from arrowheads to houses to full set of jazzy showjumps, as well as their own water complex and bank in the middle of the menage. We started with a upright on a circle with placing poles to encourage them to spring up over the fence. At first I was trying to ride a stride to the placing pole.. this was where I was going wrong! I had to ride a stride to the fence and forget about the poles on the floor. With that thought in my head Puzzle jumped lovely even when he kept putting it up! We then went onto doing 2 doubles on 5 short strides, again to encourage her to be more careful and jump collected rather than long and flat. She did this exercise really well not touching a pole, even when he put it up. After this exercise we tied a few fences together which she jumped really well incorporating the cross country fences and water, bank complex. Yogi spotted I needed to keep my left leg more forward and that I should try to not hold onto her too long.. always my problem over checking! Thanks Yogi :D Add Comment |
