I think my aims are really achievable for both horses.. see what you think
Starting with Candy Blue, she will be rising 6 next year and I hope to start her off with a strong BE100 after last seasons results nothing has phased her yet... She is the only horse that has allowed me to stay for all the prize giving’s this year with her placings always in the top 6. (Even if it is just a rosette!) Her record is such an achievement and one I am really proud off, I hope I can keep it as clean as possible moving up the big step from BE100 to Novice which so many horse & riders fall foul at. She will be aiming for the BE100 plus at Stafford after a run at either Somerford Park or Draycott House. The BE100 plus in mind to set her up for the challenging Chatsworth International Novice. Her strong point being dressage and SJ the BE100 plus should be perfect for her with still the BE100 cross country course. After taking her hunting a few times the difference into fences has been huge. Now she takes me into a fence and I don't have to flap half as much!!!!
So with her first novice in mind being Chatsworth which is set to be completely changed in terms of direction I hope the initial planning and numerous training we can get to will set her up nicely for this.
Now tell me if I am being a little too optimistic... My ultimate aim for Candy is to qualifier her for the YH* at Osberton. After checking the qualification eligibility she has to complete x2 novice clear XC with no more than 16 SJ pen. I think this is definitely achievable.. or at least I hope so! Only time will tell if this honest & talented mare can complete against the big names in 2012. Fingers crossed for me as it would be a huge achievement after bringing her on myself from a 4yo.
Onto the mighty Pokeys Puzzle (or at least she thinks she is this time of year!) Pokey will start off for the first time at Novice level either at Somerford Park or Draycott, depending on how her fitness program comes on if I feel she is fit enough I will aim for the new Kelsall Hill Intermediate track being as she has ran well around their Novice. Aiming then for Chatsworth CIC*.
Our ultimate aim for Pokey is to either qualify and compete in the YR** held at Weston Park or Osberton CCI** both which need the same qualifications but clash dates so I will have to choose which one to go for nearer the time. The YR might be more beneficial at this stage as it's my last year in Young Riders. Pokey will have to complete a CIC** which we will hopefully do at either Barbury or Somerford Park. Fingers and toes crossed please :)
We would love to hear your thoughts...
