Following 44 Musto Open Eventing League competitions, held all over the country since March, with an incredible 731 Pony Club Members taking part across them the winner of the Musto Open Eventing League is Amelia Newland, from the Worcestershire Hunt Branch of The Pony Club. Amelia, aged 18, amassed a total of 21 points with her horse Secret Rising, and will benefit from the top prize of a day’s training with 4* Event Rider and Musto Ambassador Tina Cook, as well as a full equestrian outfit courtesy of Musto! Winners down the line will also receive training bursary amounts from £200 for second place, to £50 for 10th place. The Open Eventing League was formed to encourage Pony Club Members to compete at Pony Club Open level, through the provision of increased opportunity to practise and prepare for Pony Club Open Area Competitions and Championship level. “We have been so pleased with the uptake of Pony Club Branches running Musto Open League Competitions” comments Jenny Yates, Secretary for Pony Club Eventing. “The numbers speak for themselves, and we feel that more competitors have been involved at Open level this year, which has undoubtedly been helped by having the support of Musto and the training based prizes they have been able to offer our Members”. Marketing Manager at Musto, Emmie Brown comments: “We are thrilled the Musto Open Eventing League has been such a success as supporting young riders is very important to Musto. We have been providing top quality technical clothing to some of the top riders in the world for many years, including William Fox Pitt and Tina Cook. To give someone a chance to train with an Olympic medallist is a great opportunity for any young rider” Any Pony Club Branch running an event with a Pony Club Open (1.10m) class can register their competition for the Open Eventing League, and it is hoped the competition will go on to grow further in 2012.
